Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated: 16 June 2026

We want rufly to be fast, reliable and fair for every traveller. This policy explains how to use the Service responsibly and what isn't allowed.

Breaking these rules can lead to throttling, suspension or termination, so please read them.

1. Purpose and scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out the rules for using the rufly Service. It forms part of, and should be read with, our Terms of Service. It exists to keep the network reliable, lawful and fair for everyone.

It applies to anyone who accesses or uses the Service, including data delivered through your eSIM and our website and account area.

2. General conduct

When using the Service, you agree to:

  • Comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the country where you use the Service.
  • Use the Service only for lawful, personal purposes consistent with your plan.
  • Respect the rights, privacy and safety of others.
  • Keep your account and devices secure.

3. Prohibited activities

You must not use the Service to:

  • Break any law, or facilitate any illegal activity, fraud or scam.
  • Send spam, bulk unsolicited messages, or operate phishing or other deceptive schemes.
  • Distribute malware, viruses, or engage in hacking, unauthorised access, or network attacks (including denial-of-service).
  • Infringe intellectual property rights or distribute pirated or unlawful content.
  • Access, store or distribute material that is unlawful, abusive, defamatory, obscene, or that depicts the exploitation of children.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk or harm others.
  • Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on the network, or attempt to bypass usage limits, throttling or security controls.
  • Use automated means to abuse the Service or evade fair-usage controls.

4. Reselling and commercial misuse

rufly plans are intended for personal travel use. Unless we have agreed otherwise in writing, you must not:

  • Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute the Service or eSIMs.
  • Use the Service to provide a competing connectivity service.
  • Operate permanent connections, servers, machine-to-machine fleets, or use the eSIM as a substitute for a fixed-line, business-grade or always-on connection.
  • Use the Service in a way that is inconsistent with normal personal use, such as continuous high-volume traffic, automated downloading, or tethering at a scale that disrupts the network.

5. Fair use of the network

"Unlimited" does not mean unrestricted. To keep speeds fair for everyone, plans are subject to the limits described on our Fair Usage page. We may apply throttling once allowances are reached.

We may take reasonable steps to manage traffic, protect the network, and prevent abuse, including prioritising or limiting certain traffic where necessary.

6. Security and responsibility

  • You are responsible for the security of your device and for all activity carried out through your eSIM and account.
  • You must not attempt to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our systems, or breach security or authentication measures.
  • Report any security issue or suspected vulnerability to legal@rufly.co rather than exploiting it.

7. Monitoring and enforcement

We do not routinely monitor the content of your traffic, but we may investigate suspected breaches and take action to protect the Service, our users and third parties.

If we believe you have breached this AUP, we may, depending on severity: issue a warning, throttle or restrict your usage, suspend or terminate your access without refund, remove offending content, and report unlawful activity to the authorities. We will act proportionately and, where practical, give notice.

8. Reporting misuse

If you become aware of any misuse of the Service, or content or activity that breaches this AUP, please report it to legal@rufly.co with as much detail as you can.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. When changes are material we will update the 'last updated' date. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
